Jarira's attendants bring Farud to a couch and lie him down, but he is past recovery. In his dying breaths, he says they are right to mourn, and advises them to throw themselves from the battlements to deny Bizhan the pleasure of victory. He dies blaming Bizhan for his untimely death.
Project Notes
The scene has to be distinguished from the mortal wounding of Farud by Ruhham, in the previous scene, although the placement of the latter in the text often suggests that it is used by the artist as the moment of his death.
