The second single combat is between Giv son of Gudarz and Guruy Zirih, who had killed Siyavush. They fight first with lances, and then charging at each other firing arrows. Guruy is afraid of the prowess of Giv, and draws his sword as the Persian hero charged at him once more. Giv's aim was to take Guruy alive, to deal with him in the appropriate manner in revenge for Siyavush.
