Public Notes
Nineteen illustrations from a 19th-century Kashmiri dispersed Shahnama. Only seven of the illustrations are recorded in the Israel Museum catalogue (pp. 186-188, cat. no. 261-265, 267-268). It seems as though at least some of the miniatures illustrate episodes from the Faramarznama.

All the miniatures were cut off the original manuscript, without any text, and mounted on cardboard frames with various pages on the verso sides, such as the Qur'an and astrological texts.

It is therefore only possible to identify for sure the miniatures whose iconography is traditional and well known from other Shahnama manuscripts.
