Aquired in Isfahan by Jean Otter between July 1737 and April 1739 for the Bibliotheque du Roy (FR notes); seems that both parts were in the Savafid collection - seal on f 2r and ff.551v and 552r : ? 'Abbas Ist Library ? (FR notes). Is there a signature on f. 042r ?
Acquired in Isfahan by Jean Otter between July 1737 and April 1739 for the Bibliotheque du Roy; seems that both parts were in the Savafid collection - there is seal on f. 2r and ff.551v and 552r : perhaps for 'Abbas I's Library (Francis Richard's notes).
This is a second SN manuscript bound together in Suppl. Persan 489. From f 552v to 615r (Afrasiyab's reign). The dimensions are different, it has no colophon and 9 spaces for miniatures, 2 being painted in, the 7 others are left blank. (CvR).
See Tesniere, M.-E., Tresors de la Bibliotheque nationale de France, Paris, 1999, pp. 43 (no. 24), 213 (no 121).
The text was perhaps produced ca. 1520 in Tabriz and never completed; it was later attached to the first (complete) part of Supp. Pers. 489, which was finished in 946/1546. See now the brief work by Mahmoud Metghalchi & Francis Richard, Le Livre des Rois, Paris 2009, pp. 67-72.
Project Notes
Some of the images in this part are repeats from the first part (489). MN
